colorFabb allPHA is 100% bio-based and biodegradable without leaving microplastics.
The bioplastic is made through a naturally occurring process called fermentation. By adding bacteria with natural sugars and oils, the bacteria create “fat” cells (the PHA).
Microorganisms can eat it again at the end of the product’s lifespan. The allPHA material degrades in any biotope without leaving behind microplastics. The rate of decomposition depends on the thickness of the printed part and compost environmental factors such as heat, humidity and microbial activity. This makes allPHA very different from PLA, which is only biodegradable in an industrial composting environment.
allPHA shows exceptionally good layer adhesion under most printing conditions. The material feels strong and powerful and is stable at very high temperatures up to 120 °C.
Unlike other filaments, allPHA does not require a heated bed and must be printed with 100% fan cooling.
The filament is supplied on a cardboard spool made from recycled cardboard to further minimise the use of single-use plastic.
